Gymnastics Team Coach

POSITION
Summary:
Supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
Builds members' and the community's understanding of the YMCA's cause and impact.
To provide professional and high-quality coaching to all levels of the gymnastics team in a safe, education and fun environment, while also, providing great communication between team parents and coaches.
Instructs practices in a safe, enjoyable, culturally aware, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures with advocacy for diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).
Essential Functions:
Builds personal, culturally aware, and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests.
While exemplifying the Y's commitment to DEI and the four-character values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility and responds to all member and community inquiries in a timely manner.
Leads energizing, fun, culturally aware, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living.
Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
Builds effective, culturally aware, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA using a DEI lens Provide direct supervision and instruction to gymnastics team participants in accordance with the Gymnastics Coordinator's guidelines.
Assist with planning and setting up lesson plans and structure of classes.
Develops positive relationships with participants and provides motivational support and guidance.
Cultivates strong working relationships with YMCA members, staff, participants, and families.
Conveys programs/schedule information.
Follows all YMCA emergency and safety procedures.
Completes incident and accident reports as necessary and submits them to the Gymnastics Coordinator promptly.
Report's problems, complaints, or concerns of participants to the Gymnastics Coordinator in a timely fashion.
Participates in staff meetings, trainings, events, reviews, and other scheduled events.
Set-up and maintain class equipment use and configuration and be accountable for housekeeping in the gymnastics/PE closet.
Report damaged equipment to the Gymnastics Coordinator.
Maintains attendance records in an orderly and efficient manner.
Upholds all YMCA policies, procedures, standards, and code of conduct.
Project a positive, enthusiastic, and professional image on the job at all times.
Be self-motivated and can work independently or as a team member.
Be punctual and dependable.
Qualifications:
Must have a working knowledge in the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic Compulsory routines.
Must be at least 18 years old or 17 years old as an assistant.
Must have 1-2 years of previous gymnastics or related coaching or teaching experience.
Must have 1-2 years of previous experience working with children ages 1-12.
Must have a fundamental knowledge of gymnastics skills and the ability to demonstrate them.
Willingness to learn additional areas in the gymnastics department.
Demonstrated ability to teach the development of skills and proper techniques in the area of specialty.
Must have knowledge of proper spotting techniques.
Ability to lift equipment and spot children.
Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with class participants, superiors, and co-workers.
Must be able to implement oral and written instructions.
Exercises mature judgment and sound decision making.
Requires current CPR, and First Aid certification.
USA Gymnastics Professional membership is a plus but not required.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
